THE GEOGRAPHY BEHIND THE ART

Sources & credits

Original map designs and illustrations by Midway Maps. Gallery images are web previews of existing map exports. City maps show selected urban areas, not necessarily entire municipal boundaries.

City geography

© OpenStreetMap contributors. Selected city maps also use Overture Maps Foundation data. Individual print details identify the applicable sources.

State maps & interactive atlases

Geographic sources include the U.S. Census Bureau, National Park Service, USGS and Natural Earth. Each interactive atlas includes its own detailed source guide and geographic interpretation notes. Themed highlights are explained within each edition.

The room preview

The rooms are AI-generated interior settings combined with actual Midway Maps artwork. Placement and frame sizes are illustrative. The slider shows a design concept, not a photograph of a purchased product.

Cartographic backdrop & type

The dark website uses a decorative contour-line accent. The three archived designs titled Electric Terrain, Fine Line Atlas and Sculpted Earth were supplied by Midway Maps and are displayed unchanged.

The gallery backdrop uses U.S. Census Bureau state outlines derived from the project’s 2025 county data, with projected latitude and longitude lines. It shows the contiguous United States. The website uses Teko and Montserrat; individual print designs also use EB Garamond and other local fonts. Teko license and font notices are included with the site assets.

The map room

The About Us page depicts an AI-generated, unoccupied cartography workroom. It is an illustrative scene, not a photograph of Midway Maps premises.

The collection

Midway Maps is an ASU MBA capstone project in development. This is a school-project showcase. Prints, commissions and online ordering are not currently available.

Words on the prints

State nicknames and city descriptions draw on state libraries, government sources and local destination organizations. Geographic descriptions are editorial captions, not official mottos. Technical editions label their map-reference coordinates and distinguish land area from total area; land figures cite the 2010 U.S. Census. City source windows describe the selected map extract, not the full municipality.

Companion art

The six full-page etched companions and four park illustrations use original AI-assisted artwork developed for Midway Maps. These are interpretive compositions, not geographic evidence or measured views. Gallery previews preserve the selected artwork; digital previews do not constitute physical print proofs.
